Winter 2024

Backcountry touring from French mountain chalet
9-15 march 2025 or 16-21 march 2025 (7 day trip)

Have you heard of the Queyras mountains? Almost certainly not.

We take you on a backcountry-ski trip from an exclusive chalet in a remote and today uninhabited valley in the heart of the Southern French Alps. We go touring from our cozy mountain cabin. Imagine any kind of trip, be it steep, long, smooth, be it scrambling up a ridge, or turns in virgin snow through lost valleys. In the evening there will be hearty local cuisine around a wood fire, we’ll see to that together!

Programme:
– Day 1: Meet in Grenoble (could arrive on a train from Zürich with departure time 6:32 a.m.), Minivan transfer to Abriès (ca. 3h), Climb to Chalet (45 min) in Valpréveyre.
– Day 2 to 6: Touring from Cabin into the remote Queyras Natural Park. Different trips possible with climbs around 1000 elevation meters, often in open alpine terrain, but also in larch forests that offer great skiing on snowy days when visibility is reduced.
– Day 7: Ski to the valley and transfer back to Grenoble (possible arrival in Zürich at 19:28)

Skills:
– You have ski touring experience and are a confirmed backcountry skier.
– Climbs with elevation gains of 1000 to 1300 m, so approx. 4 hours per day, sound like fun to you.
– You are happy to help the team prepare breakfast or dinner.

Remote Turtmann Valley – Backcountry touring from Chalet in Valais
Thursday 6 – 9 March 2025 (4 days)

During winter time, the Turtmann Valley is rather known as a “forgotten and remote” place – that being said it is actually an ideal place to experience wilderness, and so close to your doorstep. Thanks to the accommodation, exclusive for our group, we can go on solitary and varied ski or splitboard backcountry trips during 4 days. We’ll enjoy time in the chalet cooking and relaxing together.

– Day 1: Meet in the morning in Val d’Anniviers – the ski lifts from St. Luc take us up to 3000m, from where we ski to into the cabin. You could get there from Zurich on the 6:32 a.m. train.
– Day 2 and 3: Trips directly from the chalet to the surroundings of the wild Turtmann Valley. The terrain offers various summits and many options for trips with around 1300 m elevation gain. Thanks to some forested areas touring in snowy conditions  are still so much fun even when visibility is reduced.
– Day 4: Final trip and ski into the Mattertal or to Unterbäch.

Skills:
– Skiing: you have ski touring experience and are a confirmed backcountry skier
– Fitness: climbs from 1000 to 1300 m, so approx. 4 hours per day, are fun for you
– You are happy to help the team prepare breakfast or dinner.
